• Aston Martin Works are pleased to be able to offer to the market a rare and unique opportunity to acquire a piece of Aston Martin History. The launch of the Aston Martin DB4 in October 1958 shook the motoring world and shaped the Grand Touring cars for arguably the next two decades. The DB4 was ahead of its time in almost every aspect. Aston Martin developed the car through its four-and-a-half-year life through what has been retrospectively identified as the series five. The DB4 Convertible was introduced in the London Motor Show in October 1961 by which time the car was into its fourth series. As with the saloon the styling of the convertible was the work of the Milanese Coachbuilder
• Carrozzeria Touring and used the patented Superlegggera tubular lightweight body construction that was licensed to Aston Martin. The DB4 Convertible was to turn out to be even more exclusive than the DB4GT with only 70 being produced
• of these 40 were series 5 cars. Just one car ‘1173’ that we have available for sale was fitted with the DB4GT engine when supplied new in 1963. This DB4 Convertible fitted with the GT engine has gone through a comprehensive restoration
• by Aston Martin Works – the very home of the model’s birth and re-crafted with the same artisan skills. The build of this car started on early 1963 and was completed in June 1963
• it was the second from last to be built and was fitted with the DB4GT engine ‘0216’. Originally it was finished in ‘Midnight Blue’ with Red Leather. It was supplied to Ken Rudd’s Brooklands Motor Company in Weybridge
• England and delivered on July 19th to an Owner in Cheshire. Around 1970 the car was bought by an Owner in North London
• by 1974 the car Moved to California and was in the hands of
• an Executive in Hewlett-Packard. After it was sold the car
• the car disappeared until 2014 when the current owner bought it. During 2016-2018 the car has undergone a total rebuild to the Original Specification at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell where the car was built originally.
